Half term programme + weekly sessions

Ballet Club gives young people access to professional artists, opportunities to develop their dance skills and the confidence to have an artistic voice in the work they co-create.

Calling all aspiring dancers aged 9 – 12 years, who live in Newham and love to dance!

Join us for Ballet Club for four weekly evening sessions in February and March, to dance and create new moves with professional artists. Be inspired and meet dancers and creatives at English National Ballet’s state of the art studios in Canning Town. Find out about life as a professional dancer, gain behind the scenes insights and create a choreography to perform to family and friends on the final day. This is an opportunity you won’t want to miss!

The programme is FREE OF CHARGE and is available for Newham residents. Places are offered on a first come, first served basis.

Please note: parents/guardians must drop off and collect children at the Mulryan Centre for Dance, but cannot remain in attendance during the classes.

Weekly Sessions

Weekly Ballet Club sessions will begin on Friday 23 February for 4 weeks at English National Ballet’s (ENB) dance studios, at the Mulryan Centre for Dance.

Inspired by English National Ballet’s work, dancers will take part in creative sessions exploring different themes each week. The final session held on Saturday 16 March will culminate in an informal sharing for family and friends. Afterwards, Ballet Club dancers and their families are invited to attend a performance of Re-Play, English National Ballet’s annual youth and community performance platform, which will feature ENB’s youth performance groups: ENBYouthConnect and ENBYouthCo.

Who can book

Ballet Club is a free programme open to children living in Newham aged 9 – 12 years. Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Children can attend the half term programme and/or the weekly sessions. Dancers are encouraged to commit to the full programme of activity to gain the most benefits.

For further information about this programme, please contact engagement@ballet.org.uk.

What to wear

*Please wear clothing you can move in: something stretchy is ideal and not too loose, so that you don’t get tangled up. Participants should wear soft dance slippers or dance in bare feet for class (no socks for safety reasons). All jewellery should be removed before class and we recommend that long hair is secured away from the face.
