Swan Lake“Altogether a company triumph”
The Sunday Times
Derek Deane’s lavish production of Swan Lake was premiered in 2000 as a re-working of his hugely successful arena version which was performed at the Royal Albert Hall earlier this year. Praised by critics and audiences alike, this traditional ballet is sure to capture the heart of everyone who sees it.
Swan Lake brings the romance and high drama of the grand Russian ballet tradition alive. Perhaps the most famous of all ballets, it tells the story of Prince Siegfried’s love for the Swan Queen, Odette, and their battle against the evil magician, Rothbart.
Tchaikovsky’s magnificent score, which undoubtedly features some of the most beautiful music in the classical ballet repertoire, is played by the full Orchestra of English National Ballet and the dramatic story line, spectacular sets and costumes and technically brilliant dancing from the Company’s 67 dancers make this ballet unmissable.
This production is approximately three hours including a pause after Act I, and two intervals of 20 minutes. |
