We’re thrilled to share that our First Soloist, Katja Khaniukova, has been awarded the State Award of Ukraine – the Order of Princess Olha, Third Class.

This prestigious award is granted by the Ukrainian government and recognises outstanding achievement and contributions that inspire and strengthen communities. It is Ukraine’s highest state honour for women.

Katja has been recognised not only for her artistic talent, but also for championing UK–Ukraine cultural ties, ongoing fundraising efforts and an unwavering commitment to Ukraine.

Born in Kyiv, Ukraine, Katja joined English National Ballet in 2014. Alongside her impressive achievements on stage, both with the Company and as a guest artist, Katja has led fundraising campaigns raising over £3 million to support Ukrainians affected by Russia’s invasion, while also providing help to refugee artists.

In sharing news of the award recipients, the Ukrainian Embassy commented:

“We express our sincere appreciation for their long-standing support for Ukraine, solidarity with the Ukrainian people, principled defence of human rights, and their significant personal contribution to the restoration of justice.”

We congratulate Katja on this remarkable achievement, and celebrate the dedication, artistry, and commitment she brings to everything she does.
