Inspired by the vibrant world of English National Ballet’s new Nutcracker, step into the stunning Land of Sweets and Delights, be surrounded by magical costumes and sets and waltz the morning away.

This youth class is at open level. We recommend dancers have some ballet experience in order to best enjoy this workshop. This session will creatively explore sections of the ballet Nutcracker and learn phrases from the repertoire. The class will be adapted for different levels, so whether you’ve taken a few classes or have been dancing for years, you’ll be able to join in and shine.

Ages: 9 – 13 years. Suitable for school years 5 – 8.

Do I need have a ticket to watch the ballet in order to book a workshop?

No you do not need a ticket to watch the ballet in order to book and attend a workshop. Workshops are standalone events and open to all. If you would like to book a ticket to accompany your workshop you can book tickets to Nutcracker here.

What should I wear to a ballet workshop?

Please wear comfortable clothing that you can move easily in. Class will be taken in barefoot or in soft ballet shoes - no soft blocks, socks or pointe shoes are permitted.

Are there any age restrictions for youth workshops?

Yes, we have two youth workshops and classes available to book this winter suitable for two different age ranges.

Youth Nutcracker Ballet Class (Intermediate)

Ages: 14 - 17 years. Suitable for school years 9 - 12. Intermediate level: Recommended for dancers who have a confident knowledge and application of classical ballet technique to best enjoy the workshop. This class involves more challenging barre and centre work, taught at a swift pace, using technical ballet language.

Youth Nutcracker Creative Dance Workshop (Open-level)

Ages: 9 - 13 years. Suitable for school years 5 - 8. Open level: We recommend dancers have some ballet experience in order to best enjoy this workshop. This session will creatively explore sections of the ballet Nutcracker and learn phrases from the repertoire. The class will be adapted for different levels, so whether you’ve taken a few classes or have been dancing for years, you’ll be able to join in and shine. Please note: For events with attendees aged 13 and under the young person taking the workshop or class must be dropped off and picked up by an adult (18+). Please ensure when booking your select the correct workshop or class for your age range.

Can friends or family members watch the workshop?

Unfortunately, for all workshops we cannot accommodate any friends or family members to watch from the auditorium. For family workshops, additional adults can be added on via buying a ticket but they must participate in the event. In family workshops bookings must have a maximum of three children to one adult.
