The Sleeping Beauty Costume Appeal A Timeless Revival

Join us in preserving the magic of Sir Kenneth MacMillan’s masterpiece, The Sleeping Beauty.

At English National Ballet, we celebrate our classics, and we can’t wait to bring this grand and gorgeous ballet to London, Southampton, Manchester and Liverpool.

But we need your help to make this fairytale come true. We invite you to be part of an extraordinary journey to restore the iconic costumes that make this production sparkle.

Your support makes a difference

We need to raise £40,000 for the meticulous restoration of these beloved costumes, many of which are over 20 years old. For our atelier, this means thousands of intricate sequins to reattach,  masses of fringing to replace and layers upon layers of tutu to reassemble.

Every contribution, no matter the size, plays a vital role in ensuring that this enchanting production will again mesmerise audiences this Season.

Your donation not only preserves a cherished legacy but also supports our commitment to sustainability, proving that tradition and modern ecological responsibility can beautifully coexist.

How your donation helps

Due to the age and fragility of the pieces, our highly skilled artisans will spend countless hours expertly bringing the costumes back to life. Restoring just a single tutu is a delicate process that can take over a day.

Your donation will help us honour the costumes’ original design and integrity:

£70 pays for colour matching the new materials in each costume, all done at our in-house dye room.
£100 buys us a metre of bespoke woven fabric.
£600 covers the restoration of a fairy’s tutu
£1,300 pays for a male dancer’s jacket.
£2,400 covers the base, bodice and top skirt of a fairy’s costume.
