Introducing ENBYouthCo’s New Creative Director

Launched in 2012, English National Ballet’s youth dance company ENBYouthCo nurtures creativity, commitment and innovation, offering talented artists aged 14 – 18 the opportunity to realise their potential and advance their dance journey.

ENBYouthCo focuses on both ballet and contemporary dance technique, reflecting the varied and diverse styles seen in English National Ballet’s repertoire. The programme offers performance and creative development opportunities as well as access to a wide range of professional artists, international choreographers and creatives.

We are delighted to welcome BLUE MAKWANA as ENBYouthCo Creative Director for the 26/27 and 27/28 cohorts.

Blue is a London-based choreographer, movement director, rehearsal director and teacher.

A former Sadler’s Wells Young Associate (2023–2025), Blue was commissioned to create work for the theatre’s main stage, studio theatre and digital stage. Her choreographic work has been presented at venues including Sadler’s Wells, the Royal Opera House, Theatre Royal Stratford East, the Roundhouse, Greenwich Docklands International Festival, Disneyland Paris and leading higher-education institutions.

Blue’s performance credits include, ‘WICKED’ and ‘WICKED: For Good’ the movies, Matthew Bourne’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’ with New Adventures (UK + International tour), ‘Mandela’ the musical, Ed Sheeran & Paulo Londra, ‘Magic Mike’s Last Dance’, DFS, HOLLAND X GUCCI, Burberry, Dr. Barbara Sturm and ‘He’s Dead’ by Malik Nashad Sharpe.

Within her choreographic and teaching practices, Blue aims to create and deliver work which honours technical dance training and displays versatility and fusion.

As our new ENBYouthCo Creative Director, Blue is committed to supporting our young artists as they continue to follow their goals and embark on various exciting career pathways.
