Case Study: Dance the Atlantic

Cunard and English National Ballet have been in partnership since 2019. Together, we present Dance the Atlantic, an exquisite Event Voyage that celebrates the world of dance. Our latest edition in August 2025 was again a great success.  

Our shared goal is to reach new audiences, generate brand awareness and create unforgettable experiences across the globe. 

Dance the Atlantic offers the unique opportunity to experience an up close and personal insight into the magic English National Ballet creates on stage, and all the work that goes into it, on board an extraordinary Transatlantic Crossing. 

The seven-night Transatlantic Crossings gives guests on board the opportunity to watch morning ballet class, drop in on afternoon rehearsals, and attend unique insight talks, offering a fascinating understanding of the dedication and exhilaration of a professional dancer’s life. Guests are also invited to take part in workshops delivered by English National Ballet’s Associate Artists and to attend stunning performances in the ship’s Royal Court Theatre, featuring excerpts from classical masterpieces and thrilling new works. 

Past Voyages

The inaugural Dance the Atlantic set sail in August 2019, featuring six dancers from the Company: Lead Principal Erina Takahashi, First Soloist James Streeter, then First Soloist Aitor Arrieta, then Soloist Rina Kanehara, then First Artist Daniel McCormick and then First Artist Francesca Velicu. In August 2023, Dance the Atlantic returned to Cunard’s flagship, Queen Mary 2 and once again provided the opportunity to appreciate the talents returning dancers of Daniel McCormick (now a First Soloist) and Francesca Velicu (now a Junior Soloist) alongside newcomers Ivana Bueno (Junior Soloist), Julia Conway (First Soloist), Miguel Angel Maidana (First Artist) and Eric Snyder (First Artist).

Production Partnerships

On land, Cunard continues to support ENB’s work by sponsoring some of our most critically acclaimed productions, including Raymonda at the London Coliseum and on tour in England, the world premiere of Creature by Akram Khan and subsequent international tour to Chicago at The Harris Theatre, and the wildly popular double bill THE FORSYTHE EVENING at London’s Sadler’s Well’s. In 2024 Cunard is delighted to support the UK premiere of Johan Inger’s impactful reimagining of the classic title Carmen, also at Sadler’s Wells
