Attending English National Ballet Events

Essential Information

Health and Safety

You are required to complete a health and safety form and comply with the physical activities disclaimer before taking part in any workshops with English National Ballet. Where possible, we will collect this information during the online registration process. If this is not possible, we will notify you in your confirmation email and provide a link to a relevant form which you must complete and return to English National Ballet prior to the start of the event. If you have any concerns about the content of workshops then please contact us in advance. 

• Participation in all physical activity (workshops) is at your own risk; English National Ballet cannot be held responsible for any injuries or loss or damage to your person or property. 

 • For all physical activities (workshops) participants should wear suitable clothing and soft shoes / bare feet. 

Film and Photography

Filming and photographing during all events is strictly prohibited. 

Timings for Theatre Events

Please see the ‘What’s On’ section of our website for specific timings of all events. Event timings are subject to change and you will be notified of any alterations as soon as possible. 

Access Information

General Information: 

§  Only those booked for events will be admitted. Your booking confirmation email or letter is proof of purchase and entry. 

§  Unfortunately observing is not permitted for any Centre Stage Series workshops, unless otherwise stated. 

Events at Markova House

§  Evening Classes (including Taster Classes) - arrive up to 30 minutes before the start time, wear comfortable clothing and soft canvas/leather ballet shoes (no pointe shoes or socks).

§  Friends Open Days – please arrive from 2.30pm for the 3pm rehearsal.

§  Ballet Buddies Open Day – please arrive at 10.45am. Soft drinks and a snack will be provided, and depending on the rehearsal schedule, the event will finish between 1pm and 2.30pm.

§  Masterclasses – doors open no earlier than 7pm for a 7.30pm start. We anticipate the events finishing at approximately 8.30pm or 9pm. We ask that you endeavour to arrive no earlier than 7pm due to limited access to the building before this time. 

§  Workshops – Please arrive at English National Ballet reception to register 15 minutes prior to the workshop.

Markova House is to the West of the Royal Albert Hall. Buses 9, 10 and 52 run along Kensington Gore and High Street Kensington, Gloucester Road and South Kensington underground stations are all within walking distance.

Events at the London Coliseum

§  All events (excluding Centre Stage Series workshops) - entry to all events will be from the main foyer, where you will be met by a member of staff who will escort you to the correct area of the theatre. Please arrive no more than 15 minutes prior to the start of the event.

§  For Working Stage Rehearsals we will send theatre tickets approximately two weeks before the start of the season.

§  For Live Drawing Workshops please bring your own drawing equipment. You should avoid bringing any wet materials or items that may spill.

§  For Centre Stage Series workshops and Backstage Tours - participants should arrive at Stage Door to register 15 minutes prior to the event. Workshop participants will exit the theatre via the Main Foyer.

Events in Regional Theatres

§  Working Stage Rehearsals, Company Class, Backstage Tours and Centre Stage Series workshops - entry will be via the Stage Door.

§  Please arrive no more than 15 minutes before the starting time of the event as shown in your confirmation email and wait to be escorted into the theatre. Centre Stage Series workshop participants will exit the theatre via the Main Foyer.

§  All other events - entry will be via the main Front of House foyer unless otherwise stated. You will be met by a member of staff who will escort you to the correct area of the theatre.

§  For Live Drawing Workshops please bring your own drawing equipment. You should avoid bringing any wet materials or items that may spill.

My First Ballet Workshops

My First Ballet Workshops - entry will be via Front of House. If you are watching the performance prior to the workshop, please exit the auditorium following the end of the show and register your attendance in the main foyer. If you are not watching the show, please arrive and register with a member of staff no more than 15 minutes before the starting time of the event as shown in your confirmation email.

Orchestral Rehearsal – please meet at the main entrance.
