The Diana Memorial Fund case study

Diana, Princess of Wales, was Patron of English National Ballet from 1989 until her untimely death in 1997, during which time she worked tirelessly for the Company.

A generous grant from The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund was awarded to the Company in 1998 and used over a period of three years to institute major new initiatives. These included the creation of new ballets, the development of new audiences nationwide and a health and welfare development programme for the Company's dancers - all reflecting the Princess's own interestsand concerns.

English National Ballet is delighted to have been invited to take part in the charity tribute concert at Wembley Arena on 1 July 2007 which was hosted by Princes William and Harry in memory of their mother, to mark the 10th anniversary of her death. All money received by English National Ballet will be directed to an exciting new initiative, the Commissioning Fund, which has been established specifically to provide funds for new work; the first new production will be a sumptuous re-working of the family favourite, The Nutcracker.
