The many elements that go into creating an outstanding ballet performance are time-consuming and costly. The training and rehearsal of dancers, the creation of new choreography and original music, handmade costumes and ballet shoes, specially designed sets and props all play a part in the creation of a performance that can give an audience intense enjoyment.
The large number of dancers, full orchestra, a complex performance schedule and programme of rehearsals make English National Ballet an expensive organisation to run. It would not be possible to do this without the assistance of trusts and foundations to provide indispensable funds.
These funds enable us not only to fulfil our core work, preserving the existing ballet heritage, but also to challenge our dancers with new works and create a new legacy for the future, and, through our education and community work, to make a contribution towards encouraging new audiences through a greater understanding of the art form.
