English National Ballet’s Enchanted Garden Gala took place on Monday 17 March last month. Hosted by Natasha Kaplinsky, it was the most successful Gala to date raising over £200,000 for the Company.

The Dorchester set the scene for a delightful evening of dinner, ballet and fundraising. Guests were treated to a Laurent Perrier champagne reception followed by a delicious bespoke three course menu designed by The Dorchester’s exceptional chefs. Wines supplied by award-winning Argentinian vineyard Bodega Raffy complimented the menu.

Cherry blossom, magnolia tree branches and enchanting floral decorations by Lavender Green Flowers adorned the Ballroom creating a beautiful setting for the evening’s performance. Guests previewed George Williamson’s Firebird performed by First Artist Ksenia Ovsyanick as well as First Artist Van Le Ngoc’s The Four Seasons performed by Nancy Osbaldeston, Anton Lukovin, Lauretta Summerscales, Daniele Silingardi, Madison Keesler, Barry Drummond, Erina Takahashi and Nathan Young, accompanied by musicians from the Orchestra of English National Ballet.

Tom Best, Christie’s youngest Auctioneer, whipped the guests into a bidding frenzy for our Live Auction. The chance to watch Tamara Rojo and Carlos Acosta in rehearsal and a box for our upcoming performance of Romeo and Juliet at the Royal Albert Hall reached bids of up to £10,000! All in all the Live Auction raised over £30,000 followed by an equally impressive pledge for the launch of our Pointe Shoe Appeal.

To round off the night, those who had bought keys in our Raffle were invited onto stage to try their luck at unlocking one of three fantastic prizes.

English National Ballet would like to thank all the companies and individuals who supported the Enchanted Garden Gala.

ENB Gala 2013

English National Ballet's Gala once again returned to The Dorchester, Park Lane for an Arabian Nights themed extravaganza. Guests fully embraced the theme; arriving adorned in sumptuous jewels and swathed in luxurious fabrics and turbans. For those who had yet to add an Arabian twist to their outfit we had accessories on sale which had been designed and handmade by Central St Martin’s students Martin Hanley, Adam Mosley and Toma Stenko.

Guests enjoyed Laurent Perrier Champagne and canapés during reception where many bought gifts from The Wonder Tree and browsed the impressive selection of Silent Auction items on display.
Hosted by TV presenter Natasha Kaplinsky, guests were treated to a delicious Arabian inspired three course dinner, wine from Armit Wines, and an exclusive ballet performance, choreographed by Associate Artist George Williamson.

As the lights went down our dancers surprised guests by weaving through the tables in a blur of colour, culminating in a sensuous performance on stage with extracts of Fokine’s Scheherazade and incorporating music from Camille Saint-Saëns’ Samson and Delilah. Singers from Opera Holland Park added further drama to the performance with their rendition of Stanger in Paradise from Kismet while Ksenia Ovsyanick and Arionel Vargas danced their pas de deux.

We are delighted to announce that this year’s Gala raised a staggering £150,000 for the Company. These funds will directly support the future of English National Ballet.
