ENCHANTED GARDEN GALA
English National Ballet’s Enchanted Garden Gala took place on Monday 17 March last month. Hosted by Natasha Kaplinsky, it was the most successful Gala to date raising over £200,000 for the Company.
The Dorchester set the scene for a delightful evening of dinner, ballet and fundraising. Guests were treated to a Laurent Perrier champagne reception followed by a delicious bespoke three course menu designed by The Dorchester’s exceptional chefs. Wines supplied by award-winning Argentinian vineyard Bodega Raffy complimented the menu.
Cherry blossom, magnolia tree branches and enchanting floral decorations by Lavender Green Flowers adorned the Ballroom creating a beautiful setting for the evening’s performance. Guests previewed George Williamson’s Firebird performed by First Artist Ksenia Ovsyanick as well as First Artist Van Le Ngoc’s The Four Seasons performed by Nancy Osbaldeston, Anton Lukovin, Lauretta Summerscales, Daniele Silingardi, Madison Keesler, Barry Drummond, Erina Takahashi and Nathan Young, accompanied by musicians from the Orchestra of English National Ballet.
Tom Best, Christie’s youngest Auctioneer, whipped the guests into a bidding frenzy for our Live Auction. The chance to watch Tamara Rojo and Carlos Acosta in rehearsal and a box for our upcoming performance of Romeo and Juliet at the Royal Albert Hall reached bids of up to £10,000! All in all the Live Auction raised over £30,000 followed by an equally impressive pledge for the launch of our Pointe Shoe Appeal.
To round off the night, those who had bought keys in our Raffle were invited onto stage to try their luck at unlocking one of three fantastic prizes.
English National Ballet would like to thank all the companies and individuals who supported the Enchanted Garden Gala.
