Big Dance 2014

The programme will kick off with the Big Dance Pledge by Scottish Ballet on 16 May 2014 in celebration of the Commonwealth Games. The dates for the festival week are 5 - 13 July 2014.

As the West London Hub for Big Dance 2014, English National Ballet is thrilled to be flying the flag for all things dance in this area. Everyone is welcome to be a part of the festival, with dance related performances, workshops, exhibitions, debates, photography and films taking place across all of the UK.

Big Dance, British Council and Channel 4 in association with BAFTA are delighted to announce the five projects chosen for the second series of Big Dance Shorts, this time focusing on the creative relationship between Brazil and the UK.

The winning films will be broadcast in the UK on Channel 4 during Big Dance Week 2014 as part of the Random Acts strand, and in Brazil during the summer, before going on to numerous screenings as part of Big Dance’s nationwide programme of events.

One of the films, Neither Here or There, features dancers from English National Ballet exploring questions of belonging and displacement between the UK and Brazil. First Artist Tamarin Stott created choreography for the film, working primarily with Lead Principal Fernanda Oliveira and Junior Soloist Junor Souza.

You can find out more about this and the other films on the Big Dance website
