Like a Fish Out of Water presented an inspired new concept developed by seven sisters group that blended site-specific performance and handheld video technology.
Produced by Zap Art, the event took audiences on a magical journey around two of London’s beautiful lidos, and featured dancers, actors, stunning designs and cinematic soundscapes.
At both Uxbridge Lido and Hampton Pool, audience members received mp3 players with earphones which guided them around the location, where they engaged with live performances and pre-recorded footage.
The striking originality of the project caught the imagination of the public and the media: more than 1300 people experienced Like a Fish Out of Water at Uxbridge or Hampton, and it was featured in a wide range of newspapers, including The Sunday Telegraph, as well as on BBC News London.
"The whole family enjoyed it. A very different experience and interesting story." – Audience Member
"Nice to see the lido used in an unusual way. Excellent performances." – Audience Member
"Real life dancers popped out of changing booths and stairwells, risking the rain as they posed and pirouetted. Enchanting." – Joan Parry, The Sunday Telegraph
