Dancing Parallel, a partnership project between English National Ballet, Scottish Ballet and National Dance Company Wales, brought together 60 young people from across the UK to create a film under the guidance of acclaimed filmmaker Nic Sandiland.
Their creative adventure involved working with choreographers to fuse contemporary dance, ballet and parkour together, and to produce site-specific choreography inspired by the contrasting environments of their home cities.
The film was screened in the Big Dance Big Top Tent, in the grounds of the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich, before each performance of Dance GB (an Olympic-themed production presented by English National Ballet, Scottish Ballet and National Dance Company Wales). As a result, Dancing Parallel was seen by over 1,000 people during Big Dance Week in London alone. The film was also screened in Scotland and Wales.
