In July 2012, in the beautiful grounds of Opera Holland Park, audiences were treated to a plethora of outstanding new dance works created by up-and-coming choreographers from English National Ballet, Union Dance, Combination Dance Company, Akademi and the Romanian Cultural Institute.
Dance Holland Park was a professional development project for emerging choreographers initiated by English National Ballet and Opera Holland Park.
The project offered an opportunity for emerging choreographers from West London dance companies to create new works inspired by an opera from Opera Holland Park’s 2012 season, and to showcase their creations on their famous stage.
English National Ballet would like to thank all of the choreographers, dancers and dance companies who contributed to the success of the project.
"It is very helpful at this stage in our careers to be able to produce work under the guidance of such established organisations and make work for a large scale venue. I hope that this kind of project will be encouraged as such opportunities are rare." – Anne-Marie Smalldon, Choreographer
"As a dancer it always feels so wonderful to perform in such beautiful places packed full of atmosphere and history, and to choreograph a piece for such a venue is truly wonderful. Something I will never forget." – James Streeter, English National Ballet Junior Soloist, and Dance Holland Park choreographer
