In July 2012, hundreds of people gathered at Twickenham Stoop to witness a spectacle unlike any other: a celebration of cheerleading, courtesy of English National Ballet, London Broncos Rugby League Foundation and KI Concerts.
Three international dance groups – Mid-American Pompons, Tabor and South Australian Precision Dance – performed on the pitch, before the crowd was encouraged to engage in mass-participatory dance workshops led by the ever-uplifting Hakeem Onibudo.
The Big Dance Cheer provided a great opportunity for English National Ballet to actively support dance beyond the world of ballet, and to embody the spirit of Big Dance: the celebrate dance in all of its manifestations!
"We had a wonderful time both performing our own routine and being part of the finale. We loved the way the audience got involved." – Artist, Big Dance Cheer
"Without a doubt, the Big Dance Cheer brought some glitter, high kicks, pom poms, perfect unison and wonderful smiles to English National Ballet’s Big Dance programme." – Attendee, Big Dance Cheer
