Big Dance Pledge 2013
This year, the Big Dance Pledge was created by English National Ballet artists Laura Harvey (Creative Associate) and Jenna Lee (Soloist), and set to an original soundtrack created by DJ Danilo Walde.
The driving force behind the Big Dance Pledge 2013 was to build on the excitement and positivity created by Big Dance 2012, and the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. This year’s Pledge encouraged more than 30,000 people across the world to sign-up and take part, helping to make dance a bigger and more enriching part of their lives.
Tamara Rojo, Artistic Director of English National Ballet and International Ambassador for Big Dance has issued the following statement:
“I am proud to be an International Ambassador for Big Dance and English National Ballet is also delighted at being asked to create the Big Dance Pledge for 2013, as a legacy to the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Big Dance is the ultimate dance experience and exemplifies our intention to bring dance to as many people as possible people in unexpected ways, whilst making relationships with real people and real organisations throughout the whole country. English National Ballet is committed to the Big Dance legacy of inspiring more people to participate in and experience dance through widening opportunity to dance in all its forms, raising aspirations, and developing sustainable networks.”
English National Ballet’s flagship west London performance of the Big Dance Pledge 2013 took place on Saturday 18 May in Lyric Square, Hammersmith. A video of this performance will soon be uploaded here.
