Adult Ballet

English National Ballet’s highly successful Adult Ballet Programme consists of four weekly classes that cater for different levels of dance experience led by highly experience ballet tutors. Ballet is an excellent way to develop poise, fitness, flexibility, strength and co-ordination as well as boosting self-confidence and meeting like-minded individuals.

Level 1


Beginners

Mondays 7pm – 8.15pm; Lower Studio -SOLD OUT

A class for newcomers to ballet; learn the foundations of ballet including the positions and lines, alignment and basic ballet steps in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

Level 2


Improvers

Tuesdays 7pm – 8.15pm; Lower Studio - SOLD OUT
Wednesdays 7.30pm - 8.45pm; Upper Studio - SOLD OUT
Having mastered the ballet basics move on to learning how steps link together through more advanced exercises. For participants returning to ballet class and for those wishing to progress from Beginners.

Level 3


Improvers Progression

Mondays 7pm – 8.15pm; Upper Studio - SOLD OUT
Be challenged by longer and more complicated sequences in centre practice and gain confidence performing pirouettes and adage. For participants with more ballet experience and for those ready to graduate from Improvers.

Level 4


Intermediate

Tuesdays 7pm – 8.15pm; Upper Studio - SOLD OUT
A faster paced class for those who are confident with their ballet technique and understanding of ballet principles. Develop your ballet vocabulary, musicality and artistry in this progressive class. For participants with a minimum of three years ballet experience.

FAQs


What should I wear?
Leotard and tights or loose comfortable clothes with soft ballet shoes or bare feet.

Can I do pointe work?
No, pointe shoes may not be worn to any classes.

Where are the classes?
All classes are held at Markova House, home of English National Ballet. Click here for a map and the full address.

What time should I arrive?
Please aim to arrive at 6:45pm. You may not be admitted to the building if you arrive before 6:30pm as Reception is not manned. If you arrive later than 7:10pm you will not be able to join the class.

How many people will be in the class?
The number of participants is limited to 28 per class in order to make the classes safe and enjoyable for all.

Am I guaranteed a place for next term if I apply this term?
No. To make the system fair you need to apply each term in order to secure your place as these classes are in high demand. Please ensure your name is on the Adult Ballet email mailing list to receive updates and notification of when bookings are open.

Can I see English National Ballet perform?
Adult Ballet participants have the opportunity to buy tickets for English National Ballet performances at specially reduced rates and the chance to take part in special events.
