Rock Around the Clock English National Ballet’s Fundraising Gala
We are delighted to announce that over £100,000 was raised at our annual fundraising gala at The Dorchester on 29 March 2010; a truly fantastic achievement.
Highlighting the fifties rock n’ roll theme, The Dorchester’s ballroom was decorated with delightfully kitsch milkshake and ice-cream sundae floral displays with the tables resembling old-fashioned 45s. A fabulous Manhattan jukebox lit up the room with tunes playing throughout the evening.
The Champagne reception was followed by a delicious dinner, punctuated by performances including a mambo cha cha from Strictly Come Dancing’s Darren Bennett and Lilia Kopylova, The Dying Swan and three wonderful fifties inspired pieces choreographed by English National Ballet dancers Kerry Birkett, Danny Jones and Stina Quagebeur.
The vital fundraising opportunities included a silent auction, prize 45s lanterns and a live auction hosted by Lord Poltimore.
We are enormously grateful to everyone who attended and who bid or bought a lantern; the money raised enables us to continue in our mission to deliver world-class classical ballet to the nation.
