English National Ballet School

English National Ballet School

English National Ballet School was founded in 1988 by English National Ballet to provide talented young dancers with the highest quality of training. Today the School exists as a separate entity but maintains strong links with its parent company, sharing its commitment to quality, accessibility and cultural diversity.

The peer of the major ballet schools in France, the United States, Denmark and the UK, ENBS has trained countless dancers who are now working in major ballet companies worldwide. In 2011, 45% of the dancers at English National Ballet received their training here.

The three year, full time course provides a world class, comprehensive training in ballet, within a broader education which enables students to acquire personal and professional life skills.

The focus of the third year is professional performance experience with opportunities to perform with English National Ballet and in our apprenticeship company - a joint venture with English National Ballet. ENB2 is a new touring company featuring graduating dancers of outstanding potential from the School in performances produced by English National Ballet.

The School also offers opportunities to young aspiring dancers. ENBS Juniors provides high quality weekly ballet classes for children from pre-school age. Open to all without audition, these classes focus on embedding strong ballet technique within a creative and fun atmosphere. At the end of each term there is an opportunity for family and friends to attend an open class and see their child's progression.  Our Short Courses offer a range of opportunities to young dancers wishing to enter professional training, ranging from one day workshops to week long courses.

For the past 10 years, the School has been officially designated 'Outstanding' by the UK Schools Inspectorate (OFSTED).
