Harlequins Rugby League Friday 9 July 2010 The Twickenham Stoop
English National Ballet is very pleased to be working in partnership with Harlequins Rugby League Foundation in Twickenham and Combination Dance. The relationship begins with T-Mobile Big Dance 2010 and will continue through to 2012 – looking to work closely together to promote rugby, dance and a healthy lifestyle for the all in West London. The key events to look out for in 2010 are listed here:
A Masterclass in Ballet and Rugby League May 2010 Bringing together leading English National Ballet dancers and top Harlequin Rugby League players in a unique setting. As part of the 6 week countdown to T-Mobile Big Dance 2010, the Masterclass will provide a means for both sets of professionals to share their warm-up and performance techniques with the other, looking to learn from the particular skills of the given discipline. This Masterclass should prove to be an interesting and enlightening experience for all involved!

English National Ballet are very pleased to be working in partnership with the London Borough of Richmond, Combination Dance and Harlequins Rugby League Dance Academy professionals to deliver a new, large scale site specific work to be premiered on Friday 9 July at the Twickenham Stoop. 100 Richmond children take part in a unique pre-match warm up, never seen before. Also don't miss the exclusive screening of the dance / film project The Pitch created especially for Big Dance 2010.
Exclusive Big Dance Offer Tickets for the match against Bradford Bulls on 9 July are available for just £10 (adults) and £5 (u16s) ring 0871 527 1315 and quote “dance”.
The Pitch Participation, £150 per school In the run up to Big Dance 2012, English National Ballet and Harlequins Rugby League Foundation work in partnership to present The Pitch - a dance and film project specifically aimed at boys. The Pitch challenges perceptions of dance and more specifically, ballet, and tackles the big question of how to get boys regularly dancing. The project kicks off with a series of 10 taster workshops in west London schools funded by John Lyon’s Charity. These workshops are inspired by Wayne Eagling's all male ballet Men Y Men, which tests the rules of ballet with men partnering men with daring athleticic movements. We are keen to hear from schools in west London and in particular the following boroughs: Hammersmith and Fulham, Ealing, Brent or Harrow.
2010 and beyond Leading on from A Masterclass in Ballet and Rugby League, it is the hope of English National Ballet and Harlequins Rugby League to work together to undertake a piece of research in ‘Complimentary Methods of Training’. Working with leading experts in the Sports Science field, both partners hope to deliver their findings during Big Dance 2012.
