Taste of Dance
Workshop Activity

Throughout the Big Dance 6 week countdown and Big Dance week itself English National Ballet hosted a series of workshops for members of the public, teachers, students and dance professionals.

Shobana Jeyasingh Workshop
Members of English National Ballet’s Adult Ballet classes were invited to attend a free workshop lead by dancers and emerging artists from Shobana Jeyasingh Dance Company. The 2 hour workshop was based on Jeyasingh’s unique dance style and the choreography of Counterpoint at Somerset House, the Big Dance 2010 commissioned work by Somerset House and English National Ballet. The 15 participants were then invited to the performance and encouraged to join the dancers from the company in the fountains of Somerset House after the show – trying out the moves learnt in the workshop.  This was an incredibly fulfilling experience for the workshop participants and a unique opportunity to learn from one of the most exciting dance companies currently producing work in the UK.
