It's been a quiet week at Jay Mews as it's been all hands on deck in Bristol to change from The Snow Queen to Swan Lake in time, luckily everything went smoothly and all swans were donned with pristine white, feathery tutus.
Earlier in the year the Company has been performing the in-the-round version of Swan Lake, which is actually remarkably different to the version on tour despite being the same choreographer. The tour version has a prologue explaining how Odette was turned from a Princess into a swan by Rothbart and the ending is the tragic version whereas the in-the-round version ends with Rothbart dying as Odette and Prince Siegfried's love triumphs over all. -What a wonderful opportunity to try both versions as a choreographer!
With our studios empty, we were able to host a visit from the Blue Peter team for a lesson in cheerleading! Presenters Andy and Konnie were challenged to create a cheerleading routine and compete in front of the Miami Dolphin cheerleaders. The judges agreed that their performances were dangerous but certainly spectacular!
